RSPL Group is a diversified Kanpur-based FMCG Company committed to delivering value for money propositions and is credited with several innovations over the last three decades. The journey of the company began in 1988, when Shri Murali Dhar Gyanchandani and Shri Bimal Kumar Gyanchandani started their venture with Ghadi Detergent.
One of RSPL's flagship products is Ghadi detergent, which has become a household name. The company has a strong presence in fabric care, personal care, and home care products. Its diverse range of products including FMCG, dairy and allied products, real estate, footwear, lifestyle and fashion, agri-business, and renewable energy. RSPL has established wind and solar power plants across India, generating over 50.1 MW of renewable energy. The group is committed to delivering excellence with a strong focus on the Indian market, while maintaining an international footprint in countries like Bangladesh, Nepal, Ethiopia, and Dubai.
Today, RSPL Group employs over 25,000 team members. The Group believes in sustained economic growth, showcasing its holistic business expansion plans. With due importance given to the environment and giving back to society, and as a part of its CSR outreach, there are trusts such as Laxmi Devi Dayal Das Charitable Trust and RSPL Welfare Foundation undertake most of the CSR activities. Over the years, the Group has expanded its presence across multiple sectors, including FMCG with household, hygiene, and personal care products, as well as dairy and allied products, real estate, footwear, lifestyle and fashion, chemicals, and green power. With a legacy spanning over three decades, RSPL Group has been credited with several innovations, supported by an efficient capital structure, cutting-edge technology, operational discipline, and an extensive distribution network, all of which have contributed to the consistent growth and success of its brands. The company remains dedicated to providing a superior brand experience and delivering exceptional value for consumers' money. Its consumer-centric approach ensures that its brands are tailored to meet the diverse needs of consumers across various segments.
As a key player in the detergent industry, RSPL manufactures detergent powder and cakes under its flagship brand, Ghadi. The company operates 21 detergent manufacturing units across multiple states, including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Maharashtra. In addition to detergent production, RSPL has a strong presence in the personal care sector, with a toilet soap manufacturing unit located in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, which commenced production in the fiscal year 2008. To strengthen its production capabilities, the company has established its own units in Greater Noida and Kanpur for manufacturing packaging materials. A unit in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, has been set up for the production of Alpha Olefin Sulfonate (AOS), while another facility in Haridwar is dedicated to manufacturing home and personal care products. Additionally, RSPL operates a unit in Kasna, Greater Noida, specializing in hygiene care products. In an ever-evolving and fast-paced world, adaptability and resilience are key to sustained growth. Understanding this necessity, RSPL has taken significant strides in backward integration by establishing a soda ash (LSA) manufacturing plant in Devbhumi Dwarka, Gujarat, with an investment of over ₹40 billion. Commissioned in the financial year 2019-20, this facility utilizes the advanced Solvay process developed by M/s. NIOCHIM (Ukraine), incorporating dry lime technology. Soda ash is a crucial raw material in detergent production, accounting for approximately 37% of the total raw material cost for detergent powder and 10% for detergent cakes. Our History
The journey of RSPL Group began in 1988 when Shri Murli Dhar Gyanchandani and Shri Bimal Kumar Gyanchandani set out from Kanpur with Ghadi Detergent. Driven by a vision to create a lasting and meaningful impact on millions of consumers across the country, RSPL Group has since expanded its presence across multiple sectors, including FMCG with household, hygiene, and personal care products, as well as dairy and allied products, real estate, footwear, lifestyle and fashion, chemicals, and green power.
Originally established as Rohit Surfactants Pvt. Ltd. in 1988 in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, the company was founded by the late Mr. Dayal Das and his sons, Mr. Murli Dhar and Mr. Bimal Kumar. Over the years, the company evolved, being renamed RSPL Pvt. Ltd. before being reconstituted as a public limited company in August 2011 under the name RSPL Ltd.
RSPL’s promoters have strategically restructured its unit for further strengthening it's position in the market. In 2006, four companies—Kanpur Detergents & Chemicals Pvt. Ltd., Rahul Detergents Pvt. Ltd., Singh Detergents Pvt. Ltd., and Rohit Soaps & Detergents Pvt. Ltd.—were merged into RSPL. In 2008, the promoters further consolidated operations by amalgamating Ghadi Industries Pvt. Ltd. and its subsidiary, Calcutta Detergents Pvt. Ltd., into RSPL. At the same time, RSPL’s real estate division was hived off to Nimmi Build Tech Pvt. Ltd. (formerly known as Poonam Developers & Infrastructure India Pvt. Ltd.).

With a rich heritage and deep industry knowledge, RSPL Group has built a vast conglomerate that not only serves millions of consumers but also provides employment opportunities across the country. As part of its strategic restructuring, in 2011, RSPL hived off its Leather & Footwear division to Leayan Global Pvt. Ltd., further refining its business focus.
